Top 5 and Why?

I have listened to all the analysts give their rankings and have decided to do one for myself. Here is the Top 5 NFL teams and why.

5)Arizona Cardinals- Who would of thought that they would be a top 5 team this time last year? They do have many weapons on offense in the run game as well as passing. They had no QB. Leinart is a flop. Yet a veteran, making a strong case for MVP this year, has slipped into the role and given the Cards. a shot at more. They are a little weak on Defense but, when your opponent has to score so many points to stay in the game, the Offense makes up for it. Kurt Warner has over 3000 yards already this year with a 105.5 rating, he is "partying like it's 1999".

4)New York Jets-"J" "E" "T" "S" Jets, Jets, Jets. With a solid Defense against the run and second in the league in average points per game, the Jets have to be considered a true contender. After taking command in a division that has been the Patriots for years and a veteran QB that still has the taste of the conference championship in his mouth, they are being overlooked by the analysts and are making a strong push for the playoffs and more.

3)Pittsburgh Steelers
- This team is everything they are suppose to be and more. With injuries plaguing them again this year, they could probably be better. As the saying goes, "Defense wins championships" and this #1 defense in the league is going to continue to build a lead in the AFC North, on their way to the playoffs.

2)New York Giants- Defending champions of the NFL. #1 Offense in the NFL. Second in most categories on Defense. They are tough, if they are on their game, know one can stop them. Enough said accept, "Why are they not #1 on my list?"

1)Tennessee Titans- It is no secret that I am a very big Titans fan. I thought about this ranking list for some time. Trying to figure out what makes these teams good and ranked where they are. I weighed things carefully. Yes Pittsburgh and the Giants are 2 of the toughest, best teams in the NFL in 2008. Stronger numbers, higher profile players; young, strong and fast, so what is it about the Titans that makes them better? Do they have the #1 Defense? No, but it's close. Do they have the #1 Offense? No, not at all, but they are doing well. So what argument do I have for all the analysts, for all the fans of the "stronger" teams. It's actually very simple. The thing that makes the Titans the best team in the NFL so far is........

They Beat You! They WIN!!!!

It doesn't matter what you put in front of this team they win. Pound their Defense, they win. Stop their running game, they win. That's what great teams do. They win.

Kerry vs. Vince

Alright, Kerry finally had that game we all knew he would have. I'm not complaining, I've just been waiting for this opportunity to give a little insight. Kerry Collins, as well as the rest of the team, had a poor showing on Sunday in Baltimore against the Ravens. Every player has those days, every team stumbles. As a Titans fan it was not a fun game to watch but, it was a great game to see the Titans have. Confused? Let me take you back to September 9th of this year.

It was the first game of the year, a lot of expectations. We had seen the Titans perform pretty well in the preseason and was looking forward to another competitive year with a shot for the playoffs again. The defense was playing very well. Jacksonville had 189 net yards with 3 turnovers and even though they had the ball for 31 plus minutes, only scored 10 points. The new rookie, Chris Johnson, was having a great introduction to the regular season with 93 yards on the ground, his longest an 18 yard run and 34 passing with a touchdown. Our quarterback, Vince Young, was struggling, as Kerry was this last game. Here are the stats:

NAME (COMP/ATT) (YDS) (TD) (INT) (RATING)
Vince Young (12/22) (110) (1) (2) (45.6)
Kerry Collins (17/32) (163) (1) (2) (52.0)

Now, where was the difference, was it location? NO Kerry was away. Was it injuries? NO Kerry had less starters. Was it a different game plan? NO Kerry has less of the playbook to work with. Was it penalties? NO JAC game 5 penalties for 36 yds, BAL game 10 penalties for 78 yds. Was it one lost, one won?

It was the quarterbacks ability to play the position, lead their team, and show strength during adversity. The Jacksonville game was won despite Vince and his Drama Queen antics. The Baltimore game was won by a Kerry sucking it up and putting together a 10 point 4th quarter to help his team secure the victory.

Vince Young has already moved up the chart to 2nd string quarterback for the Titans. Regardless of what has been said in the media, we all know he is not stable. He is not making great strides to get his position back. The Titans do not need him. I don't think the team really even wants him. I just hope that after a couple of losses, which we all know can easily happen, that the coaching staff and administration don't bail on Kerry Collins, who is looking better than he has since his years in New York maybe ever.

JIM ZORN AND THE WEST COAST OFFENSE!!

GO SKINS!!! Well it has been an interesting start to the football season. We are coming into Week 5 and who could have predicted the current standings. Now, some teams are doing what was expected but, many are not. The Washington Redskins look like they have found the right plan and leader. Being at the top of the NFC's toughest division is an awesome accomplishment. Winning in Texas Stadium showed they are ready to compete with the other juggernauts teams in their division. Now on to the Eagles. The history of the rivalry between these two teams dates back to 1934 with them playing 2 games every year since 1936. They have played 147 times with the Redskins holding the series edge at 76-66-6, but since 2000, the Eagles have won 11 of 16 games. This weekend is a HUGE game for the Redskins. A win here puts them well in the lead, a fourth straight victory and only one lose in their division. Jason Campbell has really improved over the off season under the supervision of Jim Zorn . The Redskins and the Eagles split their games last year winning in each others stadiums. Should be a great game of football.

Vince Young... Suicide...

I don't think I can even comment on this Story.

Well, I feel I must...
This was an obvious cry for attention. To put this burden on those that love and care for you is a very selfish thing to do. I believe that for him to do this and then come out in the media (finally!!!) and say it was blown out of proportion is a common marker for a person that has low self esteem and in denial about their depression. Always needing to be reassured that you are loved is healthy but to take it to an extreme is not. I hope Vince gets and excepts the help he needs. I hope Coach Fisher stays true to his word and makes Vince earn his starting job back. I know that most Titans fans feel as I do. We have lost faith in his commitment to the team.

Hello....homework!!!

Does anyone do their homework any more? Ocho Cinco, his agent, his Publicist, and others couldn't have found out before the name change, as well as NFL officials, that it would be a Ocho No-No conflict? Reebok has many, many dollars keeping Chad from pulling his plan off. First try did not work and second attempt looks like it is going to fail as well. OK, my point is that the NFL is one of the biggest companies in the world and no one felt this out? I mean, it changed his name on my fantasy league. It's not like that happens without some effort from some IT Cronies slaving away, making big bucks just to change it all back. I play fantasy football on NFL network. You don't think that their IT guys are making good money just to change that name back? I have seen at least six articles about this completely unworthy sports news story to ever hit the NFL news circuit. Also, why did Reebok wait until his name was changed to protest? As my links show, it was common knowledge. This is all a very trumped up attempt to sell more jerseys and make more money for folks that have to much already. At least I have started the number one sleeper in fantasy football(not just my opinion), Chris Johnson, against Cincinnati and their silly receiver. Also, the authors of this blog are playing each other in fantasy football this weekend and my opponent has Ocho No-No as a WR. I will update on the results. Should be a good event considering how competitive we are.

Vince Young Update

Vince Young speaks to the media about his commitment, injury and the issues surrounded him this past week.

Jeff Fisher, coach of the Titans stated today that Vince Young will have to earn the starting QB job back when he gets past his knee injury. This has to be the best thing I have heard since Vince Young joined the team. Nothing will be given to him unless he works for it, at least I hope.

More to come ( more in depth reports are linked as well )

When to say "when"

2000 AFC CHAMPIONS

When do we say “when”

It’s midnight in Nashville, TN. Most people are finishing up a great division rival game on Monday Night Football after watching the cities “Golden Boy” from Vanderbilt show why he is the only QB from his draft class that has class. Well… all except our Head Coach Jeff Fisher. He is at the sports park watching the Metro police search his starting quarterback’s SUV and finding a weapon (thank goodness it wasn’t loaded) then questioning him on his whereabouts for the last 5 hours.

Eating chicken wings and watching football…….WHAT????????

People in his own family were so concerned with him not showing up for his MRI and later storming off from his home without his cell phone to call his coach. Knowing the mental state of his quarterback after the whole world watched him act like a child on the sidelines after being booed, his coach called the police to find him with deep concern for his well being knowing that his action would be broadcast all over the world, embarrass his team further and the best we get is…

Eating chicken wings and watching football…….WHAT????????

I SAY “WHEN”!!! Enough is enough!!! Didn’t we, as Titans fans, just get over being the wiping boy for the nation over Pacman? At least he was getting in trouble for being a “BALLER”. The maturity issue with Vince Young is something that is not news to those that love and follow their team. He has always been a big baby. Even back in college, when asked about mistakes he has made on the field, he would take it very personally and react as such. Usually not even answering the question. I understand if a person has some mental disability and needs help and can not function properly in society. I can understand being put under a microscope and getting picked by the vultures having an affect on anyone. What I can’t understand is why he is allowed to single handedly destroy a team that, because of the find of Chris “fastest man in the NFL” Johnson and an even tougher defense this year thru smart offseason decisions, could challenge for the division title.

“It has been tried!!” is my answer to almost every response I’ve heard from the VY camp. He needs help. Professional help!!!! It is time!!! Time to say WHEN !!!! Let’s get on with football. Let’s find another quarterback, let’s start Colins and lets go get that Division Title.
